The 'Roberts Creek Headwaters Ancient Forest' is located on public (Crown) land about 7 kilometres northeast of the community Roberts Creek and is proposed to be logged by BC Timber Sales (BCTS). The approximately 15 hectare mid elevation forest is filled with giant, ancient yellow-cedar trees, a unique abundance of Pacific Yew, and 7 confirmed archeological sites. The forest is also the closest old-growth yellow-cedar forest to Sunshine Coast Highway 101, between Gibsons and Sechelt (a 40 minute ferry ride from Vancouver) making it also a high potential eco-tourism destination. It is within the Squamish First Nation’s traditional territory. Read our media release here: www.ancientforestalliance.org/news-item.php?ID=696
