Old-Growth Logging Slideshow
Old-Growth Logging - View Thumbnails
75% of Vancouver Island's productive old-growth forests, including 90% of the valley bottoms where the largest trees grow and richest biodiversity resides, have been logged. Stumps as wide as 16ft (5m) in diameter have been found freshly cut as recent as 2010. The areas showcased in this gallery are from southern Vancouver Island and include the Gordon River Valley, Bugaboo Creek, Camper Creek, Sad Lake, Braden & Browns Mountain, Hemmingsen Creek, and the Upper Walbran Valley.
