About Cheralyn

Originally from Southwestern Ontario in the traditional territory of the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Ojibway/Chippewa peoples, Cheralyn grew up swimming and camping along the shores of Lake Huron.

A visit to Banff and Jasper National Parks as a teenager sparked a lifelong love of mountains and a desire to live among them. Following a short stint in Alberta, Cheralyn has spent the last 20 years in BC, where her passion for the outdoors has steadily grown. Working for AFA, she hopes to bring the urgency of protecting BC’s majestic giants to a wider audience by combining her two passions: the natural world and writing. Cheralyn has a B.A. degree in Geography from the University of British Columbia and a Technical Writing certificate from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She’s worked the last 12 years in the corporate world, educating the public on conserving energy and helping people make behavioural changes in their everyday life around electricity use. Outside of work hours, you can find her hiking, camping, swimming and skiing with her husband and two daughters.

Working to protect BC’s endangered old-growth forests and ensure a sustainable, second-growth forest industry.
