About Tiara

Originally from northern BC, Tiara gradually made her way to Vancouver Island in 2015 where she was introduced to the AFA as a door canvasser. Committed to raising awareness about endangered ancient forests in BC and solutions to protect them, she worked in other roles as the Victoria Canvass Manager and then as the Administrative & Development Coordinator. Now, she is applying her experience at the AFA as a Research & Engagement Officer.

Tiara completed her MBA in Community Economic Development (CED) through Cape Breton University in 2021. She is motivated to apply her education to researching and implementing nature-based solutions that support healthy economies and communities for generations to come. In addition to CED, she studied International Studies and Development & Sustainability at Simon Fraser University, with a focus on Comparative World Politics, Culture & Society.

Before the AFA, Tiara worked and volunteered with several international-focused organizations, which gave her perspective about the spectacular environment she lives in, the diverse cultures that surround her, and the value of serving local causes. Outside of work, you’ll find her maximizing any opportunity to get into nature or to go traveling.

Working to protect BC’s endangered old-growth forests and ensure a sustainable, second-growth forest industry.
