Announcements

We’re excited to announce that donations made to the Ancient Forest Alliance (AFA) will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000 until July 21st, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous supporter! This means for the next month, when you give a gift to the AFA, it will have DOUBLE the impact!

Yes, match my donation!

Thanks to you, we’ve made the most significant progress toward the large-scale protection of old-growth in a generation. Help us build on the momentum we’ve gained so we can ensure these beloved forests remain standing.

Together, we have the opportunity to raise $40,000+ toward the protection of endangered ancient forests in BC during this critical point in the campaign.

Ways to Donate

  1. Securely via our online form: donate.ancientforestalliance.org
  2. By phoning: 250-896-4007 (Mon–Fri)
  3. By mail: Ancient Forest Alliance, 205-620 View St, Victoria, BC V8W 1J6

Why donate now?

Major progress has been made toward our goals over the past few years; however, as we approach a critical provincial election this fall, there is a very real threat that these gains won’t reach far enough or could even be undone.

BC Conservative Leader John Rustad, whose party has been riding high in the polls, recently stated that his party would “absolutely axe” the protected areas expansion now taking place under the current BC NDP government.

Over the past few years, the BC NDP has committed to essentially doubling the protected areas in BC by 2030 (an additional area of roughly 14 million hectares or about four times the size of Vancouver Island). Additionally, it brought in over $1.2 billion in federal-provincial funding to make this protected areas expansion happen and is now in discussions with many First Nations to establish Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) that will protect millions of hectares of land across BC, including in endangered old-growth forests. This could all be scrapped if Rustad becomes the leader of BC after the election in October and follows through with his plans to axe this progress.

Your donations will help us continue pressuring the BC NDP government to ensure they follow through with their existing promises and commit to providing much-needed old-growth deferral funding and implementing ecosystem-based targets while also raising awareness about the existential threat that the BC Conservatives’ platform poses to old-growth forests and the environment at large across BC.

Now is the time to ensure our movement generates the greatest strength! Don’t miss this chance to double your impact this month!

We’re at an environmental crossroads in BC. Which future will prevail?

The Ancient Forest Alliance has a proven track record of success. We take a solutions-based approach to the complex issues facing endangered old-growth forests in BC, accurately identifying where key policy gaps remain and ensuring they get filled; we’re supporting First Nations’ protected area initiatives and the building of conservation-based economies — a win-win for humans and nature; and our award-winning photographs and conservation stories frequently garner provincial, national, and international news coverage, raising widespread awareness around the globe.

Double my donation!

On behalf of our entire team at AFA, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support in protecting the incredible old-growth forests of BC. Your gifts and advocacy have made a real difference.

However, our work is far from over. Despite recent progress, many of these forests are still under threat. That’s why your continued support is so vital.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to permanently preserving these awe-inspiring ancient forests for our generation and those still to come.
